Nonnie Jules – Just My Two Cents

Hello, and welcome to day nine of my two week-long, “JUST MY TWO CENTS” Blog Tour and today

I’m here with my fellow board member and friend, Teri Garringer! Teri and I met via Twitter and were instantly taken by each other’s stances on support and parenting. We loved each other’s blogs! I’m sure by now you all have heard of RAVE REVIEWS BOOK CLUB…it’s all the “rave” with almost everyone in the Indie publishing arena and if you haven’t joined yet, you can do so by clicking the JOIN tab below!

Next month will mark the anniversary of my burst onto the social media scene and during that time, I have published three REALLY GOOD books and have learned so very much about the industry. Although I’ve been a writer for most of my life (actually, I was born one), I only just became a published author in 2013. Some might say, “In that short amount of time, what does she know?” Well, I’m here to tell you that “SHE” has learned a lot! “SHE” has taken the time to hone her skills in the writing department as well as her  knowledge. “SHE” has taken the bull by the horn and run full speed ahead in building her author platform and establishing herself in the writing industry. “SHE” is making her name KNOWN.

On each stop of my tour, I will give you my TWO-CENTS on a particular topic from the writing industry. I hope that what I am imparting, you will take, mull over, and then act on in the best interest of YOU.

With that being said, here is JUST MY TWO CENTS ON…

If you’ve been following this tour of mine, you know that I am being allotted only a few minutes to get my two-cents out there for you all to enjoy, so I say what needs to be said and I make no apologies for any of it. These are my opinions and of course, we’re all entitled.

I am a very different kind of character. I believe in working hard at everything you do so that you can become the BEST at everything you do. That being said, I take particular offense to those who just “skate thru” life and situations, instead of actually putting in the work. This even applies in writing. I find it to be a tad lazy to publish work that really isn’t publishable…work that isn’t ready to be profiled…work that isn’t yet suited for the eyes of the world. Have you ever noticed some Book Reviewers saying, “I will only post 4 and 5 star reviews”…? This says to me that said Reviewer only wants to “SPOTLIGHT” the best, and if your book doesn’t fall into that category, what does that say to you? OK, that Reviewer is only one opinion. But, what if Book Reviewer #2 has the same position as Book Reviewer #1, and she will only post 4 and 5 star reviews and once again, your book doesn’t fall into that category. Now, what should that say to you? This isn’t baseball, we don’t need 3 strikes here for you to get the message, do we? Who do you think gets selected to play in the Baseball and Basketball All-Star Games every year? ONLY THE BEST! (With the exception of the few fan-picks of the most popular guys on occasion, but they’re still considered the BEST). The baseball league and the basketball league during those games, only want to “SPOTLIGHT” their BEST players.

I’ve shared all of that just to say this: There are tons of places, companies, organizations and other entities in the world that only want to shine their light on the best, so why wouldn’t you want to make it a priority to always be your best and to always display your best? Would you like to be left watching the ALL-STAR Games or playing in the ALL-STAR Games? Do what needs to be done to put you in position to achieve that elite status. Be ready at all times for someone to shine their “SPOTLIGHT” on you, whether it be a request for an interview or a publisher interested in signing you to their agency. I’m always an ALL-STAR player and I hope that you’re one, too!

Thanks for allowing me to share my two-cents with you today and if you’d like to follow my tour, please do so at www.nonniewrites.wordpress.com and do share your thoughts!

Thanks for having me today, Teri!

Teri – Thank you for hosting Nonnie on her “Just My 2 Cents” blog tour. I love what Nonnie has to say here today. The information to be taken away is that we need to put our best foot forward. You wouldn’t go to a job interview wearing beach shorts and a tee. Therefore, you don’t want to put your book out there until you are sure it is ready.

Nonnie, this is a wonderful reminder of the importance of striving to be the best at whatever one aspires to be in this world…Thank you for bringing out the best in so many of us indie authors! You truly are an inspiration. xoxo

This is a wonderful post!! I completely agree with every word. It’s so important for us to strive to be our absolute best in whatever we do. Very glad you hosted Nonnie on her blog tour, Teri!
